Akira's journey (Part three- Remembering)

When I reached home I went straight to my room then sat down in my chair. I stared into the sky it was the same sky everyday but today it seemed more beautiful than ever. After finishing my homework I went down for dinner and when straight to the bath and took a quick shower and went back to my room. I lie on the bed for a while then fell asleep.

“Akira faster, faster or I’ll leave you behind” A voice called out. “I’m coming …….. wait up” It seems as if I’m seeing something. Then it was a scene where the star in the sky shines very bright. “Akira when I grow up will you bring me here again.” The same voice called out “Sure I’ll always bring you here ………” Then the voice continued “Akira I love you do you like me” The voice faded slowly…… I woke up it was already morning. It was a dream from my childhood. I seem to have forgotten who I made the promise with but would they still be waiting for me to bright them there?

I didn’t waste a lot of time to think I quickly dressed up and prepared for school. I ran to school again in the same direction. “Come to think of it wasn’t it on a full moon day at beginning of March. I barely made it to school on time but I did. I got to my seat and finally stop thinking about the dreams I had recently. The teacher gave us work to do preparing us for the exam that’s coming up. At lunch I approached Futami again. She was still sitting look out of the window. “Futami do you want to go to eat lunch with me today” I asked. She answered “I forgot my boxed lunch today so I don’t really have a choice” She answered.

When we reached the cafeteria I saw Haru waiting for someone to come. When she saw me she waved her hands to call me. I ran to her to get into line and pulled Futami along. Haru was looking at me with a disappointed face. While we had lunch together the three of us went back to class. I looked out of the window again and looked into the grassy fields in the school grounds. Then I remembered something else from my dreams. In my dreams there was a hut near a small hill that is close to a forest. I went to the library right after class ended to find the nearest forest in this region. Then after class ended I offered Futami to walk her home. But Futami said “Sorry today I’m going home late because of club activities. Even though Futami is a quiet person she was really good in art.

Then walked home Haru followed me all the way home. Her house was close to mines about one block away. When I reached my home I said bye to Haru. Then the next day we had semester exam. For the next few days I followed the same routine as I did before I met Futami, Haru and Rin. When I remembered that I forgot to go to the shrine to give the cat food. After exam ended I went straight to the store and bought a fish and when up to the shrine then walked to the back. There I see Rin playing with Chika the cat where she had named it.

I said to her “Hi Rin, how are you today” She had an annoyed look on her face. “Why didn’t you come for 2 days straight you know I missed you” She ran to me and hugged me tight. I said “I won’t be gone anywhere I promise if I go somewhere I’ll tell you beforehand” She looked at me “Pinky promise?” “Fine pinky promise” I answered.

The after a few days passed semester exam ended it was nearly full moon. I though of it many time should I really go see it for once. If she’s there would she be angry and who is she. I wondered down the streets from school. I went into the store but this time I bought not only a dried fish but some chocolate also. So then I walked up to the shrine then there I say Rin. I ran up to her and said “Hi Rin how’s it going” “I’m fine she answered annoyed about something. Then I gave the cat the dried fish as it took the fish and ran under the shrine. After that I gave Rin the chocolate she calmed down a bit. Then she said “Bye Akira I have to go somewhere today” Then she ran off fast.

The next day was full moon I lie down on my bed after I reached home. I though of what would happen and would she be there still waiting for me? After thinking too much I fell asleep. I had the same dream again like last night. “Will you be here next year too and next next year?” She said. “Yea I’ll be here every year and see the stars with you” I woke up that day. It was the first day of summer vacation I was so happy to be freed from school. I went to eat breakfast out side and then say Haru in her house preparing something. So I rung the bell and called out “Haru! Do you want to go have fun with me today” She replied “Sorry I have to prepare something for tonight I can’t go with you.”

The time flew by fast I went to the arcade and went to go look for some games in the store. Then when I reached home I prepared a gift I had bought at the shopping mall at the evening. Then I ran as fast as I could and went to the same location as my dreams. There I saw a young girl sitting on the grass with a basket close to her. I walked up slowly and there I saw it was Haru. Memories started to flow back into my mind as I remembered that girl was Haru. I was so sad that I broke our promise that I forgot about everything. I ran up to her and then said “Haru I’m really sorry I didn’t keep my promise with you.” I handed her the gift and kneel down for her forgiveness. I didn’t think I would be forgiven to have forgotten about my childhood friend.

She came up to me and said “It’s not your fault Akira, it’s just I moved away for too long. When I came back I was really happy to see you but it seems you didn’t remember me.” I hugged her and cried “The day you left I was really sad I cried all day I hope you would come back and here you are in front of me but then I couldn’t remember you. I feel like an idiot Haru I’m sorry.”

I felt that time all I could do was apologize to her and wish for her forgiveness and never though she would forgive me. But then she said “Akira I forgive you let’s watch the stars together again shall we” My heart opened up as she said that I was in tears to have a childhood friend back and I could remember everything so well that it seems to happen so recently.
